Since the age of 4, dance has been an integral part of Miss Crystal’s life. She has been dancing for over 20 years, studying jazz, lyrical, tap, ballet, musical theatre, hip hop, modern, and variety. She completed her degree in psychology, with distinction, while continuing to dance for the University of Alberta Dance Team. During her last year of University, Miss Crystal started the 3 year process of becoming an ADAPT accredited tap and jazz teacher under the direction of Brian and Faye Foley. She graduated from the ADAPT Teacher Training course in 2012 becoming an accredited instructor. During this time she operated and taught at her own dance studio in Fort Saskatchewan. Miss Crystal is an award winning choreographer and has taught all ages of dancers from 3 years to adult in recreational and competitive programming. She was even nominated by her students to receive a “High Five” award for being a positive role model for youth in Strathcona County.
When Miss Crystal is not dancing, she enjoys hanging out with her son and volunteering with children and adults around the community. Her volunteer interests have included sexual assault, anger management, mental health and women’s well-being.
Miss Crystal believes that dance can instill confidence and strong self-esteem in children and adults alike and she is thrilled to be promoting the love of dance at Dancer’s Edge Studio.
